Voice Of The Chairperson

September 10, 2013

I would like to extend my sincere note of thanks to former chairperson Kazi Gautam for his selfless service to the Bhutanese Community In Syracuse (BCS), Inc. He is the one of the few people that have worked tirelessly to bring the organization at this level.

As a new chairperson of BCS, I will put my every effort to give continuity to what my predecessors have started. I shall work hard every single day to drive our community in better direction. I am fully confident that during my term I will use my best capacity to preserve our core values, identity, culture and tradition. I have a conviction that BCS Inc. will be independent from all sorts of external interests and will not be driven by any other entities to fulfill their mission and objectives. I believe in unity, and commitment within ourselves to move further towards the betterment of the community. I always respect our community members’ expertise; and values, ideas, concerns and recommendations made by the BCS Board, BCS members and well-wishers are always welcome.

As the BCS chairperson, my priorities are to strengthen the community by bringing intellectuals and expertise from all ages and gender, creating platform for folks of younger generation to empower themselves, and working with females members of BCS to address their issues if any.
Importantly, giving a continuity to the ESL and Citizenship classes, Nepali classes for children, awareness in legal issues, YOGA classes, Youth sports activities like soccer and volleyball, and other activities such as cultural songs and dances, among many will always be on top priority.

I am sure that I will fit on all generations within BCS and beyond. I hope BCS team and members will cooperate with me to fulfill our mission. This will certainly prove BCS as one of the best communities in Syracuse and beyond in the history of resettlement.

Let us come together to build a strong community!
